evaluating actions i will take when planning the brochure (working to a brief)
describe the steps I've taken in planning
-research into brochures
-request brochure
-filled in the method of collection template
-consider hardware/software - things taken into consideration? software easy accesible ect, wether the softwares hard to use or not?
-went to reporgraphics, learnt how effective the hardware is, talk about risograph
-skills audit - update new skills and new skills learnt
design stage for front cover and back page
-had to consider the house style decided to follow the house style of, white,red,black and silver, knew exactly what the house style was due to the meetings and created minutes.
-used the design stage process to plan each pages out, used existing brochures to gain a better understanding to no how to go about creating a brochure.
evaluation
name 2 of 3 brochures in evaluation, say what we learnt from them, what we took from them, what we used from them too implement into ours.
weaknesses - not a specialist in publication, after initial observations of the brochures i wasnt able to identify the key elements of the brochure. research the unknown technical techniques to understand the brochures better. collatted all the new information into a booklet, to use as a guide as i refered to the booklet when there was something i didnt understand. impact of this - time taken up. need to understand the design stage process, stages of the process we didnt understand, understood how many?
ability to sketch artwork was a help,didnt know how to create style sheets

ammending brief
i have decided that for the new page 9 of my brochure i am going to add a map of the location of the company and relative information regarding the position and location of the company, this allows people reading the brochure to fully understand where YNC are based, which ensures they got all their potential sales.

Negotiation 1
i was invited to the meeting with my team dale harris,james deeley and carl faulkner, there was also other groups which consisted of the rest of the class, altogether there was 3 groups. I will give feedback about the groups performance
my performance
the strength of this that we all gave succesful idea and i feel that i gave quite a few good idea's for the group, i think this is a clear strength as the team needed ideas to be succesful
a weakness would be that even though we did get the ammendments we could have planned the negotiation better, the bad planning may be due to this was all our first time negotiating.
an area for improvement would be too help get in the negotation more, even though we're a team dale did most of the negotiating i could of helped abit more, i think this would be something to think about in future negotations
for most of the meeting i was using my mobile phone to take notes about the meeting, this only extended my skills as i am already comfortable using my phone, therefore i feel that the use of this particular i.t system hasnt benefited me that much.
feedback
overall, mr chatton said i had some good usefull ideas that helped the team out, as i was the observer i had to write how the team performed down and mr chatton agreed that my analysis was 'spot-on' which in my opinion is good feedback
team peformance
the strength of the group would clearly be how well we worked together, the group gave good ideas, good plans and we had a good persuasive negotiator, as a whole i personally think we were the better group overall
a weakness of the group would be the understanding of negotiations every member in the group hadnt done a negotiation before so we had to try our best to do it, which we succesfully did
An area for improvement would be that with abit more practice we could be better at negotiating as a whole and i think our group would excel if we had the experience and compromised more we would then have a win-win situation

As our team was the only succesfull amendment, mr chatton agreed that we worked well as a team and that all our skills combined together to make a succesfull group

group 1 consisted of james collett, jurgen hajdini and jennifer lamb
A strength of this group was i thought they worked well together as they all gave their own opinions, i felt that as a whole they worked well and there points in the meeting wern't that bad
a weakness would be in the presentation, they all were un-prepared and didnt really look like they knew what they were doing
an improvement would be too prepare themselves more and share out the workload so each member knows exactly what they are doing, with these improvements i think that the team will work well together

Recent work
Since the last update, we have had 2 meetings on which i have taken notes and created my minutes from the notes, i have also started my gant chart on which i will frequently update when needed. For meeting one i was a little unprepared, but still have my views, however there were certain people who didnt turn up therefore not contributing towards the meeting or the work which is a clear weakness. Meeting 2 was only scheduled for 45 minutes and we failed to do all the items on the agender, it was also difficult to write down key points as people were moving so fast i hardly wrote some of the key questions down, to improve this we could use less questions or allocate more time to have the meeting, we could also improve the way the information is delivered as there was problems at times, to improve this we could of produced handouts and find a way to solve communication problems.
Mr chatton, advised us too read certain pages, to get a better grasp of the task at hand, which will need to be read as it is clearly gonna help us.
The strengths of the last past few lessons would be the creation of the gant chart, i think that my gant chart, which even though i hadnt done before, we also checked 4 ways to plan and out of the 4 i chose todo the gant chart. For an extra mark i also could have done 2 methods but instead opted for 1 method as i thought it was time efficient and i felt i could pull the mark back somewhere else. The teacher aknowledged my good time management skills when i proposed to use one method instead of two.
A weakness would be trying to collect brochures from other companies, i sent out for 3 brochures and neither companies had sent one back, this is clearly a weakness as the brochures are going to be needed.
Areas for improvement? Next time i would send out for more than 3 brochures too at least get one brochure sent back.
